Our Mission
Seeking to eliminate poverty in the midst of plenty, the North Shore Community Action Programs, Inc. (NSCAP) provides a range of services and activities that impact upon and mitigate the causes and conditions of poverty. While the various programs serve 22 municipalities, NSCAP’s antipoverty efforts are focused on the designated communities of Salem, Peabody, Beverly, and Danvers. NSCAP acts as a catalyst to secure new funding and focus available resources, public and private, to enable low-income persons to obtain the skills and knowledge, and develop the leadership abilities to become economically self-sufficient, to become civicly engaged and to live in dignity and decency. NSCAP will continue to undertake initiatives to secure this mission, which will include making the entire community more responsive to the needs and interests of the poor and bringing about greater participation in the affairs of their community and in the development of advocacy institutions as a means of improving community conditions.
