Who Are We?
SVC currently manages Deer Creek Hills, over 4000 acres located near Rancho Murrieta, and Camp Pollock, 11 acres of open space located just minutes from downtown Sacramento and adjacent to the American River. Deer Creek Hills provides open space for public hiking on weekends, docent led equestrian rides, docent-led mountain bike rides, and outdoor exploration and overnight camping for youth groups in our local area. Camp Pollock is open dawn to dusk all week for public access and can be reserved for private events. Project YES, our Youth Education and Stewardship program, works to bring all children into a natural setting to explore and learn. Many of these children have never experienced the activities that we offer in the program.

Our Mission
To preserve the beauty, character and diversity of the Sacramento Valley landscape by working with citizens, property owners, developers, public agencies and other nonprofit organizations. The Conservancy was founded in 1990 on two basic principles – that open lands are necessary for quality of life and that we must care for the land today so future generations may enjoy its physical and spiritual benefits tomorrow. SVC works cooperatively with private landowners throughout the Sacramento Valley, and public and private funding sources to purchase land from willing sellers. SVC’s acquisition and fundraising efforts – currently centering on Sacramento County - are driven by our 21st Century Open Space Vision. This vision identifies the critical remaining agricultural, biological, recreational, and scenic open space resources in the county that are essential to the quality of life in the region..
