Mutual Assistance Network

Rooted in the belief that the residents of Del Paso Heights have the power to create economic change within their community, the Mutual Assistance Network provides opportunities for economic and social growth. Using the Firehouse and Johnston Community Centers as the hubs, 21 different activities run from these centers. Activities including parent education, cooking and nutrition classes, fitness classes, and high quality youth programs. Our innovative methods of social engagement, education and community development touches over 10,000 individuals yearly and the results have been dramatic. • Crime in Del Paso Heights has been reduced by 52% since 2005 (Sacbee Crimemapper). • In the North Sacramento area, homicides caused by child abuse and neglect, when comparing 1990-1999 with 2000-2009, decreased over 85% (Sacramento County 20 Year Child Death Review Team Report). • Over the last five years 97% of the children participating in the Mutual Assistance Network’s after-school and enrichment programs have advanced in grade level or graduated.

Sacramento Tree Foundation

We envision a region where trees are valued for the many benefits they provide. Our goal is to help make the Sacramento region a model for healthy communities for generations to come. We are dedicated to reaching the widest audience possible in order to share the many linkages between an abundant, healthy urban forest and the quality of life in our region and our planet.
