Bread of Life

Established in 1997, Bread of Life is a small but growing non-religious educational organization. Located in North Sacramento, it is dedicated to spiritual growth and transformation for individuals, organizations and communities. Up until recently, the organization had operated below the radar of public attention but the last several years it started to grow and discover its potential. The organization's main program offerings are: • Spirit in the Arts program with an open and free-of-charge art studio for anyone (including marginalized and disadvantaged, as well as disabled, people) who come to experience making art, nourishing friendship and community in a non-judgmental environment, often accompanied by life exploration, healing, improved well-being and better coping with life’s challenges; • Spiritual Formation consisting of spiritual direction one-on-one sessions by trained professionals geared toward exploring one’s life’s purpose, direction and relationship with the spiritual; • Contemplative Dialogue/Active Engagement program offering training sessions to individuals and groups equipping them with skills to overcome differing and sometimes conflicting viewpoints, personalities, interests and needs. These differences often lead to misunderstandings, conflicts, and loss of creative problem-solving. The skills developed through this program allow individuals, organizations, and communities to engage in healthy, productive decision-making and consensus-building. • Classes and Workshops on a wide range of art-related and spiritual formation topics leading to self-knowledge and unlocking creativity, as well as better adjustment after traumatic experiences, coping with serious illnesses or bereavement.
