Kids Voting is a nonpartisan youth civics education organization dedicated to encouraging students to becoming involved in civics at a young age. Established in Mesa County in 1996, Kids Voting is predicated on the belief that good civic habits begin at a young age. The Kids Voting program is available free of charge to students living in Mesa County in grades K-12 attending public, private and home schools. Kids Voting is the only nonpartisan youth civics education organization in Mesa County and it enjoys the support and recognition of local individuals, businesses, foundations and community leaders.
The program focuses on engaging students in our democratic society using the following avenues: classroom education, simulated elections, and community participation. Elections offer a perfect opportunity for students of any age to learn about democracy, participation in community, and the power and process of voting. Each year during election season, Kids Voting prepares ballots for all grade levels that typically include items from the adult ballot. Kids Voting prepares nonpartisan resources so that students can learn about the issues and races and vote informed.
Our Mission
The mission of Kids Voting is to encourage young people to become knowledgeable and engaged citizens to promote a vibrant democracy.
