Gilbert Jr. High School PTRO is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to raising funds to be used in the classroom, and on the campus of GJHS to enhance the quality of education and services for the students, staff and community.

GJHS is the oldest junior high school in Gilbert and, since 1966, has served tens of thousands of students in the District. GJHS has approximately 574 students. Of those 574 students,52% qualify for free or reduced lunches. We serve the lowest socioeconomic demographic area of all the junior high schools in Gilbert, and, as such, we have some financial challenges in raising funds. Unlike many PTAs and PTOs, we do not charge a fee for parents to participate in our organization. We decided, in 2013, that waiving that fee was important so every parent or guardian knows that they are welcomed regardless of their financial situation. We strive for inclusivity among our community. As a 501(c)(3), our PTRO goals this year include partnering with local businesses and focusing on two main areas of fundraising: classroom needs and digital signage. Our first priority is to raise additional funds that will purchase materials and/or equipment for the classroom in addition to that provided by GPS. We work directly with the Principal, Assistant Principal and the Department Chairs from each academic area to help meet their needs. Part of the PTRO 501(c)(3) mission is to build community so we will continue our Family Fun Night events throughout the year. Our second priority is to help the communication with our community by purchasing a digital sign for the campus. While our focus in the classroom is number one, we believe that having a digital sign will provide our parents and community with more information, and will give the administrators the ability to pass along information quickly. A digital sign is roughly $30,000. If you are interested in making a $5,000 or $10,000 donation, please contact the PTRO or school for additional details regarding district policies and guidelines.
