Canine Companions for Independence

The assistance dogs we breed, raise and train aren’t just the ears, hands and legs of their human partners. They’re also goodwill ambassadors and often, their best friends. They open up new opportunities and new possibilities, and spread incredible joy. We unite people with dogs in a powerful program that leads to greater independence and confidence.

Deliver the Dream

Deliver the Dream’s program meets the many needs of families dealing with critical illness by tailoring the experience to the unique medical and adaptive needs of the ill family member, and well as to the whole family. We currently use 3 conference centers in Delray Beach, Live Oak and Haines City, Florida to host our retreats. The program is designed to be a thoroughly inclusive experience for the entire family unit. The objective is to provide a more effective environment for conveying the techniques, skills, activities and exercises to reinforce and sustain a positive impact on all members of the family. Each retreat includes a blend of recreational, therapeutic activities such as expressive arts, team building exercises to promote better communication; and psycho/social activities such as large and small group discussion sessions and workshops. Activities are scheduled throughout the 3 days to allow a greater investment of emotion as the retreat progresses.

Girls Scouts of Southeast Florida

We're 302 million girls and adults worldwide, with 6,000 in Broward County, who believe every girl can change the world. It began over 100 years ago with one woman who believed in the power of every girl. Today, we continue her vision of building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place by helping them discover their inner strength, passions, and talents.

Sawgrass Nature Center & Wildlife Hospital

We are the Coral Springs Nature Center & Wildlife hospital DBA Sawgrass Nature Center and Wildlife Hospital (SNC). We a€™re a volunteer-driven, charitable, non-profit organization, founded in 1995 by a dedicated group of volunteers committed to helping wild animals. SNC€™s mission is to educate the public about South Florida'€™s unique culture, environment and the many species it contains, to promote healthy living, outdoor activity and to provide excellent care for sick, injured or orphaned native wildlife. We want to foster awareness and appreciation of wildlife, particularly Urban wildlife found here in south Florida. Each year, people bring approximately 700 animals into our wildlife hospital, and we provide educational presentations to approximately 7,000 students. Volunteers donate roughly 8000 hours of their time to help us meet our goals, annually. Over the past 18 years, we have worked steadily toward our mission by not only treating ill, injured and orphaned animals, but also by educating the public about the natural world, being a responsible pet owner and what to do when you find a wild animal. We offer summer wildlife camps, and on- or off-site programming, but we are also an information resource for people who find injured or lost wild animals or who need to surrender their pet. We try to educate people about their local natural environment as well as how to best handle a wild animal they believe is orphaned. People'€™s first inclination is to help, but that is not always what the animal needs. It is through the dedication of our numerous volunteers, small staff and the generosity of individual and corporate donors that we are able to provide many services to the community. You are welcome to come and visit Tuesday to Friday from 9 to€“ 5 or on Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 3. You may wander the grounds at your leisure and see approximately 30 different animals which live with us year round. We have a small charge of $5 for adults 18 or older, $3 for children 5 to 17, & children 4 & under as well as members are free to visit.
