Financial Contributions
Cambridge Live Music is a not-for-profit community organization operated by dedicated volunteers who are passionate about Cambridge's live music community. We are entirely funded through sponsorship and donations as we do not currently receive grants from any level of government.
Our mission is to raise awareness of the vibrant live music community that currently exists in the City of Cambridge. We feel that arts and culture, such as live music, has an increasingly positive impact on the economic diversity in our community.
We primarily promote live music by publishing a freely accessible online Cambridge Live Music Calendar which has become the most comprehensive source of live music listings for the city of Cambridge. In addition, we publish 50 Cambridge Live Music posters on a monthly basis that we distribute throughout the entire city and are on display for the whole month.
We are actively soliciting individuals and businesses to consider making a financial contribution so we can continue to build our not-for-profit community organization - Cambridge Live Music.

Guitars For Kids
Bob's Guitar Service (BGS) is pleased to announce it has partnered with Cambridge Live Music (CLM), a not-for-profit organization, Queen Street Music School (QSM) and Idea Exchange (IE) to provide free guitars for local youth in need.
The idea of giving guitars to kids who cannot afford them was born four years ago when Bob Egan, owner of BGS in Kitchener, developed the mission statement for his new business. “I realized how a $29 guitar fundamentally changed my life. The music business has been very good to me so I feel it is my responsibility to pass on that good will and help others when I can.”
The music business has indeed been very good to Bob - he has been a member of Blue Rodeo since 1999.
To date, BGS has given away almost 100 guitars through organizations such as Lutherwood, the Mennonite Coalition for Refugee Support and KidsAbility. “The research is very clear that learning an instrument as a youth is beneficial in so many ways – neurologically, socially, intellectually, physically. It seems a shame to let a few dollars stand in the way of providing such a compelling developmental tool for kids who can’t afford it.”
Upon opening BGS, Bob realized this community was awash with unused guitars. When he asked his clients to donate them, the response was overwhelming. Most of the donated guitars need an hour or two of work to become playable again but it is worth it. “All you have to do is see the look on the face of a kid getting to choose his or her first guitar. That is the ultimate motivator!”
Observing Cambridge Live Music’s (CLM) passion for bringing people together and promoting a live music scene, Bob realized they would be excellent partners for expanding the “Guitars for Kids” Program into the City of Cambridge.
CLM solicited Queen Street Music School’s (QSM) involvement and they are very excited to be involved with the “Guitar for Kids” Program.
QSM’s instructors and families are active in different community outreach programs with partners such as Idea Exchange and Cambridge Live Music.
Cambridge has always supported QSM families and they feel responsible to give back however they can. Having a music school actively involved in outreach enables us to reach and help others who may not have been so fortunate, or simply need music in their lives. QSM is very proud to provide a drop off point for guitar donations and help to facilitate this initiative however they can.
DETAILS OF THE "GUITARS FOR KIDS" DONATION PROGRAM
Anyone can donate their unwanted guitars. Bob’s Guitar Service (BGS) will repair the guitars at no cost. Cambridge Live Music (CLM) will work in conjunction with Queen Street Music School (QSM) and community partners such as Idea Exchange, to connect youth in need with free guitars. Any guitars deemed unrepairable will be donated to local arts programs.
Unwanted guitars can be dropped off at Queen Street Music School during normal business hours. Please call QSM for business hours only.
